Responsibilities of the Office of Experiential Learning
- Protects the integrity of MCNY's Purpose-Centered Education model
- Develops guidelines for fieldwork practices
- Supports MCNY undergraduate curriculum development
- Conducts site visits to assess agency appropriateness
- Serves as liaison between students, faculty and agencies
- Advises students on suitable placements
- Troubleshoots problems in the field
- Captures and tabulates fieldwork data
Support to Students
- Mediates conflicts between students, instructors and/or fieldwork supervisors
- Provides fieldwork requirements information to supervisors
- Verifies student internship information for the Office of the Registrar
- Provides fieldwork policy information to students
Support to Faculty
- Conducts classroom presentations regarding fieldwork requirements
- Addresses fieldwork discrepancies or placement issues
- Conducts site visits upon request
- Provides fieldwork policy information to faculty
- Hosts periodic symposia or training on experiential learning
Support to Supervisors
- Provides curriculum information to fieldwork supervisors
- Provides fieldwork policy information to fieldwork supervisors
- Addresses issues related to student performance in the field
- Hosts periodic meetings and webinars for supervisors
