Living, Studying and Working in NYC

Housing

Although Metropolitan College of New York does not have its own residential facilities, New York is full of fabulous housing options. Below are two organizations that are in affiliation with MCNY and provide students like you with affordable housing and a host of other opportunities for exciting activities.

Educational Housing Services (EHS) is a not-for-profit organization that provides safe and affordable fully-furnished housing to students and interns coming to New York City throughout the year. EHS manages multiple properties throughout New York City and Brooklyn and is a great short-term housing option that offers the opportunity to live in a community with your peers. For more information, including locations, rates and availability, please visit www.studenthousing.org

The De Hirsch Residence at the 92nd Street Y has long been the premiere location in New York offering comfortable, safe and clean accommodations in a healthy, stimulating environment of international, national and local students, interns and young professionals. De Hirsch offers convenient housing options of single or shared double rooms from one month to one year. For more information or to reserve a room please visit www.dehirsch.com

Employment

Our unique curriculum requires that, each semester, students connect learning to practice. For this reason it is possible that students awarded the I-20 to attend Metropolitan College of New York may become eligible to work under very specific guidelines determined by the Immigration and Naturalization Service of the Government of the United States of America (INS).

Our philosophy of Purpose Centered Education means you learn by doing. At MCNY, employment is a component of the educational experience; therefore, our program allows students to work part-time while pursuing their studies full time. MCNY has the authority to grant students CPT (curriculm practicum training - during their 2nd semester, 5 months attendance requirement) during the time of study at the college. The College's Career Service Office assists students in exposing themselves to great internship, CPT and OPT opportunities. This becomes possible because of the strong educational relationships the College develops with employers.

* Students may work full time during summer semesters
** Students may work full time for a period of 12 months upon graduating from a degree program (OPT)

International student advisors are available to assist in the orientation of new students from abroad and to guide qualified students to become eligible for employment through timely application processes made on their behalf.
